“ IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ”
Words and Music by Keith McGavern

Tell you a story about another man
Who lived and died in another land
He had a woman as dear could be
And as time went by he learned to see,

No one knows what comes and goes
It happens all the time.
And not all things are what they seem
Just like in a dream.

He sat around in his living room
Looking back to see
Where in the world that he went wrong
That caused his woman to leave.

Neither of them knew what happened inside
As his woman said to him with choked pride
“It’s time to leave, I must go.
I don’t want to be with you (married) anymore.”

What do you say to someone
Who knows what they have to do?
When you see that her plans, man
They don’t include you.

No one knows what comes and goes
It happens all the time.
And not all things are what they seem
Just like in a dream.

He went on as if nothing were wrong
Writing and singing his own songs.
How long has it been?
Why, Lord, it seems years since when.

No one knows what comes and goes
It happens all the time.
And not all things are what they seem
Just like in a dream.
